Five cosmetics brands which bear the Plastic Soup Foundation’s Look for the Zero, Zero plastic inside logo, have been nominated the most sustainable brands. Rank a Brand and StoereVrouwen examined the impact of 30 cosmetics brands on health, labor conditions, animal rights, the environment and the climate for their “Beauty: Go Natural!” campaign.
All the brands were given one of five rankings with a recommendation: From A (‘just buy it’) to E (‘keep your purse shut’). Weleda was best of the test. The brands Dr. Hauschka, Logona, Santé and Botanique, supermarket chain Ekoplaza’s house brand, also did well in the test. Furthermore, Botanique is the only brand which is 100% vegan.
During the campaign from 22 to 30 June, StoereVrouwen and Rank a Brand travelled to five cities to personally explain their ranking and to answer questions during the “Beauty: Go Natural!” campaign. In addition, workshops were given by Weleda, Living Nature, Dr. Hauschka, Terrasana and Lavera. This because they choose to use natural ingredients in their products. The events were held in The Hague, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle and Groningen.
Since 22 June, Rank a Brand also has an app which – just like the Beat the Microbead app – helps consumers choose the most sustainable products.
