You are here: What we do Plastic Waste World Cleanup Day
On September 17, it is World Cleanup Day again! Just like previous years, Plastic Soup Foundation organizes this day in the Netherlands and thousands of people will clean up the streets. This year we will go the extra mile and clean up with a mission!
With the #NotInOurBackyard campaign we clean up the Netherlands and ask attention for the plastic waste that ends up in other countries like Indonesia, where 15-year-old Nina lives. By turning your cleanup action into a sponsor action you support Plastic Soup Foundation and the projects of Nina and other plastic heroes from around the world. Take action as an individual, organization or school and make sure the plastic waste doesn’t end up in our backyard, but also not in Nina’s!
The water is so dirty I can’t swim in it anymore. The river used to be clean and you could see fish everywhere. Now it’s a mess and you get sick of the water. Rich countries like Holland have to clean up their own waste.
World Cleanup Day 2021 was a big succes! Below you see the results.
Worldwide World Cleanup Day united more than 20 million people in 180 countries.
